LAKE UNION BOATS AFLOAT SHOW DROPS ANCHOR SEPT. 14-18
Largest-ever on-the-water event showcases world-class power and sail

SEATTLE, WA (May 23, 2005) – The only on-the-water boat show in the Northwest this summer will also be the biggest ever.

The Lake Union Boats Afloat Show, presented by Sea Magazine, featuring Sailfest Northwest, September 14-18, at Chandler’s Cove on the south end of Seattle’s Lake Union, will feature more than 450 power and sail boats, with displays to meet all boating needs and budges. And there’s something totally news; Now, Lake Union is the only floating show in the Northwest this summer.

“For people wondering, ‘Where did the boat show at Shilshole go?’ the answer is, “It’s all on Lake Union,” says Tracy Mills, Boat Show Director the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association, which is producing the event. “Whether you’re cruising or sailing, moving up to something bigger or just getting into boating, the show offers what you can’t find anywhere else: the convenience of sampling and singling out the boat that’s right for you.”

Along with a huge selection of boats, ranging from 130 to under ten feet, the show offers:

Sailfest Northwest, a showcase of more than 75 sailboats, along with a full schedule of free seminars by popular presenters like Lin and Larry Pardey and ESPN sailing commentator Gary Jobson

Free sailboat rides for showgoers all five days for the event, presented by Sail America’s Discover Sailing

The 5th Annual Media Pro-Am, matching local media celebrities in a buoy race on Lake Union to benefit Sail Sand Point that supports sail and small boat programs for youth

Over 120 new trailer boats, the show’s largest-ever on-land display

Over 100 shore side exhibitors offering popular marine services and accessories.
