FREE Sailing Lessons for Kids

AGES 8-16 SIGN UP FOR A 60 MINUTE SAILING LESSON

Sail Sandpoint Sailing School will be conducting free sailing lessons on 13’ Hobie Cat Waves at the Boats Afloat Show. The Hobie Wave is a single-handed catamaran that can hold up to 4 people and is a great cruising boat for all ages and ability levels. There will be 4 Hobie Waves at the show and will take out 12-16 kids at a time. Bring your kids, get them out on the water and go cruise the show at your leisure while they are being introduced to the thrill of small boat sailing! These skills last a lifetime.

Lesson Schedule:  
Friday, September 12 1 PM: Kids only. 3 PM: Parents welcome
Saturday, September 13 11 AM & 1 PM: Kids only. 3 PM & 5 PM: Parents welcome
Sunday, September 14 11 AM & 1 PM: Kids only. 3 PM & 5 PM: Parents welcome

 

To sign up for free lessons in advance, email info@boatsafloatshow.com.

Let us know how many kids you would like to sign up and your first choice for a time slot. We will email you a confirmation of time and date. Please show up at least 10 minutes early to sign your release form and get fitted into a life jacket. Lessons are in Hobie Waves. A change of clothes is advised as participants may get wet.

Sail Sand Point is a Seattle community small boat program dedicated to youth and access for all. They accomplish their mission by nurturing self confidence, leadership, and an appreciation of the marine environment.

Free sailing rides on Lake UnionIf you are drawn to the excitement of sailing, here is an opportunity to get out on Lake Union directly from the shores of the show. Sign up for free sailing rides courtesy of the national Discover Sailing program. Rides are approximately 45 minutes and run continuously, everyday, throughout the show. Check in at the Discover Sailing booth in front of Chandler’s Crabhouse restaurant and discover your future on the water.
